Amy Lancaster 

Originally from North Carolina then living along the eastern coast, I settled in the Houston Texas area where I decided to explore my true love, the arts. After being introduced to ceramic arts I fell in love with clay.

 

Inspired by the beauty of ocean and sea life, I try to create motion in my shapes. I emphasize that movement mainly by layering blue and amber under white glazes. Signature pieces are created with multiple applications of blue glazes in a wave pattern. My work is mainly functional and dinnerware safe but I love to create decorative or abstract pieces such as low fire Raku. My passion is throwing on the wheel but I also find handbuilding intriguing. Each piece is thrown or built with a lot of love by a true "Claydobber."
